Steps in Building a Successful Internet Work at Home Opportunity

When I started my internet work at home opportunity, I was
completely in the dark
on how to proceed. I am by no means an expert but I have
learned many things about working online.
These are the steps I have taken to both build and promote
my business. I hope you will
find something here to benefit you in your own work at
home business.

I. Get your own website

A.Starting Your Own Website

When you join
most
affiliate programs, you will be given
"affiliate links." These links are beneficial in that they
are built for you to promote your
business. The problem is all affiliates in your business
have the same looking sites. You can't
make changes to them and you are somewhat limited in the
ways you can promote them. In my opinion,
it is best to get your own website. You will be able to
add to it, make changes to it, and you
will be able to promote it in ways that you can't promote
an affilite site, such as participating
in link exchanges.

So, how do you go about starting your own website? I have found that
there are 3 basic things you will need to get started: A Domain Name, a webhosting
company, and the copy for your home page.

Webhosting Companies

Work at Home Hosting:
This is the one I use simply because they
pretty much offer "Web Hosting for Work at Home
Entrepreneurs." They also will design
you a well optimised home page for a specific keyword
phrase and they will register a domain name
for you

Domain Registration

If you web-hosting source doesn't register a domain name
for you, the first step is to register
your business name, even before you start a website. A
good source to do that is at

Great Domania.

Website Content

If you aren't going to use a service that will write your home page content for you, an outstanding
tool that can help you is

The Affiliate Masters Course
.This 10-DAY course focuses 100% on helping you,
the affiliate, succeed. It leads you, step by digestible step, day by day, through a flawless
process.

B.Promote your Site

There are almost endless ways to promote your site. Here
are a few of my favorites:

Reciprocal Linking

Reciprocal linking is a fancy term for putting your link
on someone elses's site
in exchange for putting them putting their link on your
site. The sites
you exchange links with
should be similar in content with yours. There are many
ways to find linking partners, such as:

Sitesell.com
-This is a free servive that matches your
site with sites of similar
content.

LinkPartners.com-
The easy way to find link swap partners.

Submitting Your Site to Directories

A good place
to find some of those is at

Best-Web-Directories.com

Powerlinking

A powerfull tool that I have used to learn more
about starting a link
exchange program is at

Jack Humphrey's Power Linking
.
"Power Linking is a system that guides
your entire website marketing campaign."

Article Writing

Article writing involves you writing an article about your
experiences with your
work at home business and submitting them to article
directories. In your resoure box, there will
be a link to your site, which gives you a one way link to
your site.
Writing articles is something that many of us feel we
can't do because we feel
that we are not knowledgable enough to write about
anything. The truth is, we all have
knowledge from our expereinces with our work at home
business. Two tools that I have used to help me
are

Turn Words into Traffic
and

Hypnotic Writing
. These
two books give you a "track" to run on, from coming up
with ideas for articles to creating an
outline used to write an article, to writing the artice in
a professional manner.

Ads

My FREE Ads Secret
-A tool that you may find interesting. It claims that
it will show you how to Place over 200 million ads online instantly FREE! I must
say that I may try it in the future, But I have not yet tried this out.

Of course there are many other ways to promote your site,
such as:

Including your link in all your outgoing e-mail

Submitting your site to various directories. Put a sign on
your car

Put a sign in your yard

Put your link on business cards to give out, including in
your outgoing snail mail

Posting ads at Free Classified sites.

By joining forums and online discusion boards

These are just a few ways to get the word out about your
site.

C.Maintaining and Changing Your Website

Once your site has achieved a good search engine ranking,
you may want to make some changes to it
or add some new features to it. Let me stress that
promoting your site is something that you will
never stop doing, but there will come a time when you
might want to spruce up your site a bit.

One thing many people use is Popup's. This feature can be
very helpful as long as you don't over do it.
The popup software I use is from

Dynamic Pop Up Generator
. They offer
Pressure Popups, DHTML Hover Popups,
PictoPopups, Conditional Popups, Instant Opt-in Popups,
Sliding Popups, Rotating Popups,
and more. Pop up ads can be used to promote a newsletter
sign up or promote a product.

Another thing that I had to do was learn some HTML. HTML
is "Short for HyperText Markup Language,
the authoring language used to create documents on the
World Wide Web." There are many tools on the
web that can help you with this including:

HTML
Goodies

W3
Schools

Davesite.com

Visibone

Complete HTML True Color Chart

Finally, an outstanding tool that can be used to check
your site for errors can be found at

NetMechanic: Power Tools for Your Web Site
. This tool
allows you to "tune-up" and improve
your web pages by fixing HTML code errors, finding browser
display problems, and by improving
site loading time. It also helps you with search engine
optimization and submission, while also offering
webmaster tips.

II.Follow Up with Your Affiliates

Once you start bringing in prospects or customers, you
need to follow up with them. Many people
prefer to follow up through their own e-mail service. I do
that at least the first couple of times,
just to let people know there is a real person out there
trying to help them. But an extremely
valuable tool I use for my business is the autoresponder.
The reason I use it is because
Experts have shown that it often takes 7 or more ad
exposures before prospective customers actually
make a purchase. With an autoresponders, your opt-in
prospects will automatically receive your
message the essential seven or more times over a period of
days, weeks, and months when
they request information from you. I also use it to send
out a newsletter periodically from my
site.

Autoresponders

The autoresponder I use is
Aweber.com.
It offers too many features to list here so I would
recommend a free test drive to see exactly
how it works.

III.Other Tools and Resources

The following is a list of various tools and resources that have helped me with my internet
work at home opportunity.

A.International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs (IAHBE)

The IAHBE is an organization that champions the home-business
lifestyle and provides its members with a multitude of resources designed
to achieve maximum home-business success.
